MILFORD — Silver Sands swimming area in Milford will open Friday after being closed due to concerns about harmful bacteria in the water.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced the Milford beach would reopen Friday morning. All state park beaches are open for swimming. DEEP testing had found indications of harmful bacteria in the water.
Other beaches in the state had their swimming areas closed this week, but have all reopened.
The DEEP tests water samples at state parks to determine water quality. Samples are collected on a weekly basis and are analyzed at the Department of Public Health Lab for the presence of certain indicator bacteria which could create problems for swimmers.
