HARTFORD — Primary voters in Connecticut are going to see some familiar names on the ballot on Tuesday.
Ten out of 12 legislative primaries involve challenges of incumbent Connecticut state lawmakers. In some cases, veteran legislators are being challenged by members of their own party who say it’s time for a change.
That’s the case in West Haven, for example, where Assistant Deputy Speaker Louis Esposito, a Democrat first elected to the House of Representatives in 1993, is being challenged by Michael DiMassa.
DiMassa is a revenue clerk in West Haven’s tax collector’s office who garnered the local party’s endorsement.
Both the incumbent Bridgeport state senators, Marilyn Moore and Ed Gomes, are facing challenges from fellow Democrats who won the local party’s backing at their May conventions.
