Around 5:20 p.m. the trooper had pulled someone over into the gore on Route 8 southbound near exit 34, in the Waterbury area, to conduct a motor vehicle stop when he was rear-ended.
There’s also no word yet what caused the crash, or if the driver was cited for any infractions. In Connecticut, it is required that drivers move over and slow down when they see emergency vehicles with their lights ignited on the side of the road.
