NEW HAVEN–Police have made an arrest in a weekend homicide in New Haven.

On Sunday at 5:36 a.m. police responded to Staltonstall Avenue after reports that a person had been stabbed in an apartment.

James Edward Foley, 50, was rushed to the hospital, but he died about five hours later from the injuries he sustained to his chest and upper body.

Police arrested a suspect, Carlos Berrios, 42, of New Haven, on Monday afternoon. They say that Berrios is Foley’s estranged wife’s current boyfriend. The stabbing occurred in the woman’s apartment. According to police, evidence from the scene and the fact that stories from the people present were inconsistent led to the arrest.
