HARTFORD -- The Pittsburg Penguins are the 2016 Stanley Cup Champions and we had a Connecticut connection that played a crucial role in the win!

Nick Bonino from Farmington is a center for the penguins. This week, he is bringing the cup back to Connecticut.

Rachel Lutzker talked with Bonino about the big win, that game winning goal against the sharks and growing up in Connecticut.

Bonino grew up in Farmington and went to Avon Old Farms high school. Then he went to Boston University where he won a national championship.

Each member of a Stanley Cup winning team gets to keep the trophy for 24 hours to do whatever they want with it.

Bonino will use his day to bring the cup to Avon Old Farms for a fundraising event. Donations will be accepted on behalf of Connecticut Children's Medical Center. The event will be held from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
