EAST HADDAM – Several months after a teen died from a drug overdose, an arrest has been made.

On March 19, State Police responded to an East Haddam home for reports of an untimely death. First responders found an 18-year-old man, but couldn’t revive him and pronounced him dead at the scene, according to the state’s attorney.

In the home police found multiple glassine bags with a powder residue.

The autopsy done on the victim concluded he died of an acute fentanyl intoxication.

On Tuesday, police arrested Karry Scanlan, 20, of Avon. He is being federally charged with intent to distribute heroin and distribution of heroin.

An investigation by the Drug Enforcement Agency, Connecticut State Police and East Haddam Police revealed that the victim arranged to purchase heroin from Scanlan, and the victim drove him to Hartford. Scanlan met up with a “source” in Hartford to purchase the heroin, which he then is accused of reselling to the victim.
