MIDDLEFIELD - A missing Meriden attorney was found dead Wednesday afternoon near Black Pond in Middlefield.
On Tuesday, a Silver Alert was put out for John Ivers, 50, who had been reported missing. A Silver Alert was issued for Ivers just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Ivers’ vehicle was found at Black Pond in Middlefield.
State Police said they launched an extensive search beginning just before 10 a.m., along with members of the Meriden Police Department, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Middlefield Fire Department. Ivers was found from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
State Police are investigating.
