VERNON — Route 83 was closed in Vernon Monday morning following a serious crash. The road was closed between Center and Merline Road but reopened around 1:30 p.m.
Officials said two cars slammed head on crashing on Route 83. A Life Star emergency helicopter was called to the scene of the crash.
Vernon police said one of the victims was taken to Rockville Hospital by ambulance, while an elderly woman was taken to Hartford Hospital via Life Star.
Police have not yet released the identifies of the victims or provided an update on their conditions.
No word yet on what caused the crash.
