Teen taken to hospital after 20-foot fall from rope swing at Torrington pond

TORRINGTON–A teen was injured while playing at a pond in Torrington on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old boy fell off of a 20-foot rope swing at Stillwater Pond in Torrington. The victim was taken to Waterbury hospital to be treated for his injuries, though the extent of his injuries is not yet known.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Conservation Police responded to the pond, along with the Torrington Fire Department, just after 3 p.m.

Stillwater Pond is not a guarded swim area, and does not have lifeguards on duty at any time. It is mainly designated for fishing and boating.
