Hartford Police investigating homicide after reports of shooting

HARTFORD--Police are investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday evening.

Around 8:20 police got a 911 call that a person had been shot near the intersection of Main Street and Cleveland Street.

When first responders arrived they immediately began CPR on the victim and took him to Hartford Hospital, but he died a short time later.

According to Hartford Police Deputy Chief Brian Foley, initial information indicates the man was shot in the arm, in the tricep area.

Police say they have not yet identified the victim, but that it's believed he's about 30 years old.

This is the city's 12th homicide in 2016, and the Major Crimes and Shooting Task Force units are on scene investigating.
