2 injured after shooting at party in Ledyard

LEDYARD — State Police Troop E responded to Backus Hospital around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after a report of two victims who walked into the Emergency Department with gunshot wounds.

A 24-year-old woman had an apparent gunshot wound to her left hand and a 21-year-old man had an apparent gunshot wound on his right shoulder.  The injuries are not considered life-threatening.

State Police Eastern District Major Crime Detectives responded, and the investigation led them to a crime scene at a home on Shewville Road of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in Ledyard.

Witnesses described a large party in the basement of the house which resulted in a disturbance between party goers.

An unknown male brandished a semi-automatic weapon and fired one round which went through the woman’s hand, and into the male’s shoulder.
