Multiple people injured in overnight shooting outside Hamden bar

HAMDEN — Hamden Police responded to Highwood Bar & Grill at 903 Dixwell Avenue early Saturday morning around 1:30 a.m. on a reported dispute with gunshot victims inside.

When they arrived, officers located one male and two females inside the bar. The man appeared to have been shot twice in his legs while the female victims were shot one in their legs. All three were treated by Hamden Fire Rescue personnel and transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for further medical treatment. The injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Detectives received information that there was a third female victim who was grazed by a bullet, but she left the bar before officers arrived.

The victims were shot outside in front of the bar by a male. He is being described as a black male, 5’10” tall, 210 lbs with eye glasses and wearing a red, white, and black plaid shirt as well as a fisherman’s style hat. He was last seen running towards Morse Street. The suspect may have been in the area of the VFW on Morse Street prior to the shooting.
