MIDDLETOWN — The Connecticut State Police are warning people to slow down with the fall references and their post is going viral.

“Whereas we are still in the season commonly known as summer, it will now be a fineable offense to engage in and/or post on social media about activities related to the season commonly known as fall or autumn until September 22nd,” they wrote on their Facebook page.

Although their post was accompanied by a picture of pumpkins, leaves and boots, state police told others not to do the same.

“This infraction includes but is not limited to the following activities: Posting on social media about Halloween, pumpkin spice anything (lattes, candles, deodorant, ramen noodles, etc.), sweatshirts, boots with fur, pumpkin carving, leaf peeping, hay rides, corn mazes, etc,” they wrote.

And don’t even think about talking about skiing, ice skating, or other winter activities.

“Posting about or engaging in activities related to the season known as winter will double the fines associated with this act,” they wrote.

Of course, the post was tongue-in-cheek and no real fines will be issued.

“Enjoy this warm weather while we have it!” they said.
