One man seriously injured in Putnam shooting

PUTNAM — Police are investigating a shooting in Putnam that happened Monday night that left one man seriously injured.

State police officials said when troopers arrived at 58 Pomfret Street, which is also Rt. 44 , they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Police  were called in around 9:18 p.m. The man was transported to Day Kimball Hospital and later flown to UMass General by Life Star Helicopter.

The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad was on the scene investigating the incident.

Police said this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

No word yet on the identify of the victim.
