SIMSBURY — State Police are trying to find the person responsible for stealing 11 training guns and ammunition from a facility in recent days.

According to State Police, forced entry was made into the State Police Firearms Training Unit in Simsbury through a second floor office door.  Eleven simunition, or non-lethal, training Sig Sauer P220s were stolen from a storage case, as well as the corresponding simunition magazines.

On August 19 a burglary alarm was activated at the facility, located at 100 Nod Road, during the evening, but Simsbury Police reported that the doors appeared locked and that it seemed to be a false alarm.

But, on August 22 at 7 a.m. troopers assigned to the unit went in the office and realized the items were missing.
