EAST HARTFORD —  A suspect in an East Hartford murder has been arrested in Syracuse, New York five months later.

In April, police named James Burrill as a suspect in the murder of Jerome Mack back on March 25 on Smith Drive. Tuesday, August 23 he was found and arrested.

In April, police had warned that Burrill should be considered armed and dangerous. He was arrested without incident. He is being held in Syracuse pending extradition to Connecticut.

The shooting took place near 107 Smith Drive around 6:15 p.m. after at least two 9-1-1 calls were placed to police reporting shots fired nearby.

Responding units found Mack inside the home with a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics were unable to revive him. Mack was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.
