MERIDEN - The heroin epidemic has hit Connecticut - and the entire nation - hard and a rally to end the stigma around addiction was held Saturday in Meriden .
Recovering addicts, along with other speakers, gathered at Hubbard Park for "Roadway of Hope" to help educate the public and raise awareness aroudn issues of addiction.
"It's not so much a social stigma any more, it's a social issue. So events like this gives an opportunity for people to come together. That's important. No one is alone any more,"" said Joe Diaz, a rally volunteer and himself a recovering addict.
About 100 people attended Saturday's event.
