HARTFORD — Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is hosting two free fishing and hunting days to help mark the 150th anniversary of the agency’s Bureau of Natural Resources.

Daylong events are planned for Saturday, September 10 at the DEEP Wildlife Division’s Franklin Wildlife Management Area in North Franklin and on Saturday, September 24 at Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area in Burlington.

Both days will run from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and will include outdoor activities and demonstrations for all ages, including hunting dog demonstrations; .22-calliber rifle, BB gun, trap shooting and archery ranges; bait and fly casting demonstrations and a skills challenge. There will also be crafts and games for children at each event.

Visitors will also have an opportunity to speak with DEEP biologists about wildlife and fisheries topics.
