ENFIELD – A Connecticut State Police trooper was involved in an accident in Windsor Locks Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. on I-91 northbound near exit 40 and involved.

State Police say a trooper was driving in his cruiser in the left lane when he came up to a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The motorcycle at that point moved to the left-center of four lanes to allow the cruiser to pass.

Meanwhile, a tractor trailer was driving in the right-center lane when it decided to move over one lane to the left, but it did not see the motorcycle that was now there. The motorcyclist swerved to avoid being hit, which caused the trooper to swerve his cruiser to the left to also avoid being hit.

The trooper lost control and hit the concrete center divider, spun and finally stopped in between the left and left-center lanes. At this point, the tractor trailer hit the cruiser, and debris from the collision hit a fourth vehicle on the road.

The fourth vehicle sustained minor damage to its back bumper.

The cruiser was heavily damaged; the motorcycle wasn’t damaged at all; and the tractor trailer was heavily damaged on the left back tires.

The trooper, identified as Trooper Aaron Pelletier, 27, was taken to the hospital for a minor injury and was treated and released. No one else was hurt.

No charges have been filed, and the crash is still under investigation.
