MYSTIC - Head to a small kiosk - on the water - in one of Connecticut's most scenic towns.  This is where history and activity collide.

"We’re right in the heart of tourism here," says Jeff Jodoin, owner of Paddle Mystic - Mystic River Adventure Co., offering bike, kayak and paddle board rentals.  "If you launch from here you can take in some of the top views in Mystic."

While kayaking has always been popular, public interest in stand-up paddle boarding is on the rise.  Jodoin and his staff give lessons and tours to folks on SUP boards.  Participants can glide past Mystic Seaport or cruise under the famous Bascule Bridge and head out towards Long Island Sound.  "Many go over it, few go under it," laughs Jodoin.  Conditions in the river are fairly calm.

Paddle Mystic - Mystic River Adventure Co. also hosts sunset, sunrise and full moon tours - all incredibly unique experiences.  "Everyone is excited to paddle at night - a new experience to be on the water in the dark," explains Jodoin.  "Something they’ve never done before."

Another unique offering?  The Monster, an inflatable raft-like board!

"It’s 15 feet by 6 feet wide.  It can hold up to 5 adults and we refer to it as the party paddle board," says Jodoin.  "As far as I know, we are the only ones in Southeastern Connecticut that has one."

Paddling in Mystic can be fun, exciting or serene.  A new perspective of a classic destination.

Take a "Nite Flight Lighted Paddle Board Tours" on September 2nd, 3rd or 4th.  Paddle Mystic-Mystic River Adventure Co. is offering tours, lessons and rentals through mid-October.  Click here for more information.
