The Real Story: Republican Congressional Candidate Matthew Corey

HARTFORD - Republican businessman and candidate for Congress Matthew Corey is running against incumbent First District Congressman John Larson, for the third election in a row. Corey said the state needs a more business-friendly politician who can do something about burdensome taxes and regulations that are stifling job creation and hurting the economy. Two years ago, Corey got 37 percent of the vote, to Larson's 61 percent.

Earlier this summer, Georgia Rep. John Lewis, a congressman known for historic contribution to the civil rights movement, led a sit-in on the House floor  to push Republicans to address gun violence. Connecticut's U.S. Representatives, including Larson, participated.
