Hartford officers sent to hospital after exposure to raw heroin during raid

HARTFORD – Hartford Police said they busted a major heroin operation on Asylum Hill Wednesday morning.

Police said they and seized 50,000 bags of heroin, 350 grams of raw heroin and 2 handguns.

Police said this was also a fentanyl packing operation and during the raid, 11 officers were exposed to heroin and fentanyl and taken to Saint Francis Hospital.

Police said they believed the officers were exposed as open raw drug powder got aerosolized when they went in. Symptoms of this exposure are felling light-headed, nausea, sore throat, and headaches.

Police said the officers were treated and released.

Police said three people were arrested as a result of the raid.
