WALLINGFORD — Mike Papale is a cardiac arrest survivor. He went into cardiac arrest when he was just 17-years-old in 2006. A man gave him CPR,, saving his life and brain until EMT’s came with an Automated External Defibrillator to shock his heart back to a normal rhythm.
“Without an AED, my changes of survival were one in a million,” Papale said.
Last year, Papale started his own non-profit foundation called In A Heartbeat. Their mission is to prevent death from sudden cardiac arrest and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. They buy and donate Automated External Defibrillators and raise money for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy research.
