WEST HARTFORD -- As more is learned about the bombing that rocked the Chelsea neighborhood of New York and a neighborhood in nearby New Jersey, the police operation is earning accolades from law enforcement in Connecticut.

Lt. Jeremy Clark, a West Hartford police officer and an organizer of prestigious Connecticut SWAT Challenge, said the swift capture of bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami was a result of more cohesive work between local and federal law enforcement agencies.

"From the first responders to the medical personnel to the community," Clark said, "you had some many entities that came together and they had to do it instantly."

Clark, a 19-year veteran of the force, said the while the police are the first line of defense, the public staying proactive is key.

"The best thing the public can do is be our eyes and ears."

Clark estimated that within the next two weeks his department will be further briefed with more information on the bombings.
