WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--We all know what fair season means: time for an extra notch on the belt.

One of the best parts of any fair, especially one as big as the Big E, is the strange and unusual foods your palate gets to experiment with. S'mores bacon? Check. Pulled pork-topped hot dog? They've got it. Even fried butter?! Yup.

But while you can experiment at any fair, a highlight of the Big E -- New England's six-state fair -- is that it introduces people to the best of each New England state. All six states have their own buildings, filled with specialties you can only get in those places.

Each state also gets a dedicated day to celebrate the best it has to offer, and Wednesday was Connecticut Day.

The Connecticut building houses everything from a Lego booth where you get to play with the plastic blocks to a Bear's BBQ stand for our state's famous smokehouse. There's a craft brewery corner offering up sips of ales and lagers made in Connecticut, and you can't miss the Huskies corner, complete with fan paraphernalia.

FOX 61's meteorologists Matt Scott and Dan Amarante visited West Springfield for Connecticut Day, and the duo chowed down on one of those pulled pork and coleslaw-topped hot dogs.
