BRISTOL--City reservoirs are in deep trouble because they are so shallow, and that's forcing people in the city to cut back.

At the beginning of the month, the water department  in Bristol instituted voluntary water restrictions, which became mandatory this week.

Due to the ongoing drought, the city's reservoirs are at 58 percent capacity.

Now, the city is going  with the odd-even watering rule--on odd days of the month, odd street numbers can water lawns and wash cars, and then the evens get to the following day.

"We have to do what we have to do, we have to do our part because the reservoirs are real low," Bristol resident Tina Biello said.

The water department says the reservoirs will need to be at 70 percent or more capacity for at least two consecutive months for the city to lift the mandatory water restrictions.
