SOMERS -- Wednesday morning in Somers, preparation began for a special fundraiser to benefit Johnson Memorial Hospital's Cancer Center in Stafford Springs.

Workers cut cut bouquets of sunflowers and got them ready to donate to the annual "Seeds of Kindness" fundraiser.

Geissler's Supermarkets sell the bouquets and donate 100 percent of the proceeds to Johnson Memorial. The cancer center and patient assistant fund at the hospital was established in 2012 in response to the financial needs of patients getting treatment at the center.
