MIDDLETOWN – Middletown native Dario Highsmith’s collegiate  football career has brought him back to his hometown after transferring from the West Point Academy, where he played last year on their Prep team, to Wesleyan University where he is now a freshman running back for the Cardinals.

Highsmith has made an immediate impact on the field for Wesleyan, scoring two touchdowns and rushing for over 100 yards in Saturday’s win over Hamilton. Wesleyan racked up 511 yards of total offense and the Cardinals posted a 34-6 NESCAC win against the  Continentals at Wesleyan’s Corwin Stadium on Andrus Field on Saturday afternoon.

Highsmith said playing college football in his hometown comes with some perks.
