HARTFORD -- The Hartford Marathon takes place Saturday morning and they're expecting about 12,000 people to attend.  Many geared up for the big race by collecting their packets and gear at the Fitness Expo.

They're expecting about $13  million to go into the city from runners staying at hotels and eating in restaurants in the area. Sarah Martin said she's looking forward to running.

"I just think it`s a great way to bring the community together I`m a teacher so I love bringing the community together and love doing things like this and I just love that they`re doing this not only for themselves but just bringing the Hartford community together," said Martin.

Tom Holguin said he feels the same way.

"If we can cross the finish line through the race and have fun and excitement in the Hartford area then that`s all a good thing and to run with friends people that you like doing the same thing it`s all good," Holguin said.

It's his first time running here in Hartford and he said he's looking forward to running around the city.

The marathon starts at 8 a.m. It's for all ages since they'll even have a fun run for kids.
