One dead after a multi-car collision on Route 202

NEW HARTFORD —  One person is dead after a crash on Rt 202 in New Hartford Friday evening.

The three car collision happened around 6:30 p.m.. One car, travelling westbound, veered off the roadway and struck a guardrail. It then became airborne and crossed into the eastbound lane where it collided with two other vehicles.

The driver of the first car, Bruce Anderson, was pronounced dead. Janelle Mattson, the driver of the second car, sustained serious injuries and was flown to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar. Three occupants of the third vehicle sustained only minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Route 202 re-opened just before 11 p.m. Friday evening, and the crash is under investigation by State Police.
