Second juvenile arrested in connection with shooting at Groton restaurant

GROTON — A second arrest has been made in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of a 99 Restaurant in Groton.

Police have arrested the 17 year-old male, whose name is being withheld, and he was transferred to the Hartford Juvenile Detention Center with charges of robbery and assault.  Police arrested another 17-year-old on October 5th in connection with the shooting.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of the 99 Restaurant, on 117 Long Hill Road in Groton around 5 pm. The restaurant is located just off the exit for I-95 and Route 12 at Long Hill Road and Kings Highway.

Police said a man in his teens was injured in the shooting. He was taken initially to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and then flown to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

The investigation is ongoing and police expect more arrests will be made.
