NEW HAVEN--The search for a suspect is on after a disturbing discovery was made Monday morning.

At 8:52 a.m., New Haven Police officers responded to 405 Foxon Boulevard--which houses an Indian restaurant and immigration and tax offices--for reports of vandalism. Later in the morning, similar depictions were found at the police sub-station located at the Bella Vista elderly housing complex on Eastern Street.

The vandalism included swastikas, anti-police markings and an "obscene illustration" of Gov. Dan Malloy with former Tulsa, Oklahoma police officer Betty Shelby, who has been charged with felony manslaughter after shooting and killing an unarmed black man in September. Also, first-floor windows and glass doors were shattered at the Foxon Boulevard location.

No specific threat was made by the vandal or vandals, but the images were none-the-less disturbing and notorious hate symbols, police said.

Police are looking at surveillance video from the buildings to see if the person was captured, and are asking for help if anyone has information. A witness may have heard the vandalism occurring between 2 and 3 a.m. Monday.

Please call police at 203-946-6304 with any information.
