HARTFORD -- A shoemaker in Hartford's Parkville section is hoping to make your shoe game much better with his brand of custom-made high-end kicks.
Josh Westbrook is the steady hand behind Brothers Crisp Shoes, an start-up company that is targeting everyone from the corporate executive to the hip hop artist.
"I'm making shoes I love, that interest me," he said.
Westbrook, who spent some of his high school years at Newington High, says if his fashions catch on, he hopes Hartford becomes his hub.
In his second-floor workshop lined with old sewing machines, leather samples and textiles from all over the country, Westbrook stitches and hammers his way to create shoes that cost anywhere from $250 to $750 a pair.
"With the time it takes to make the shoes, it has to be a high-end product." Westbrook added, "I'm going to make shoes until my hands don't want to do it anymore and I'm doing my best to make a great career out of it."
