NEW HAVEN — Two Connecticut children’s hospitals are in merger talks.
Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and Hartford-based Connecticut Children’s Medical Center said in a joint statement that they are exploring “a partnership to create a new Connecticut and regional system of pediatric care with national prominence and deep community engagement.”
Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital is part of Yale New Haven Hospital system, while the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is part of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
There has been concern among lawmakers and advocates that mergers will boost the cost of health care and limit choice.
A spokeswoman for Gov. Dannel Malloy tells the New Haven Register that the administration is aware of the merger talks.
