2 Boston police officers shot, 1 has life-threatening injuries.

BOSTON — Two police officers eave been shot in Boston and a suspect is in custody.

Commissioner William Evans said, “One of my officers is being treated for life threatening injures while the other’s injuries appear to non-life.”

Police sauid earlier the officers were shot late Wednesday night, around 10:51 p.m., at 136 Gladstone Street, in the Orient Heights neighborhood. They were responding to a call of a man with a gun.

Police initially asked residents of the East Boston neighborhood where the shooting happened to shelter in place as officers searched the area for the suspect, but later said a suspect had been taken into custody. However, residents were still asked to stay inside.

Residents on Twitter reported hearing dozens of gun shot, and then dozens of police cars whiz by.

Police have not released any additional information.
