NEW BRITAIN–Campus police announced Thursday afternoon that they were stepping up patrols after reports of a sexual assault at Central Connecticut State University, but have since walked that back.

On Thursday, a person reported to the CCSU Police Department that he or she had been sexually assaulted on October 8 around 12:30 a.m. in the Willard and Diloreto Parking Lot, which is right off Paul Manafort Drive, near the intersection with Stanley Street. Police said they do not have a description of the suspect or suspect’s clothing to provide.

However, several hours later CCSU retracted that statement, saying that no assault occurred on campus. They are still investigating the assault claims and trying to determine what occurred and where the incident occurred.

If you were nearby at the time of the assault or think you have information, please call 860-832-2375, 860-832-2381 or 860-832-2394.
