DANBURY – Western Connecticut State University police placed the westside campus on lockdown “as a precautionary measure” Thursday morning until they determined the source of the gunshots heard on campus.

Campus police posted on their Facebook page that they were dealing with a situation on the westside campus only and that reports of gunshots near that campus caused the lockdown.

Police determined it was a hunter that was not on campus property and that Danbury Police located the hunter and the situation was resolved.

During the lockdown, police said there was no threat to students but students were told to stay in place until the all clear was given.
