WESTPORT — A Westport woman faces larceny charges after police said she stole from a man she had just met for a first date.

Police said Katherine Stonick, AKA “Sophie”, met a man for a dinner date on August 17 at Finalmente Trattoria on Post Road East in Wesport.

Police said the man paid for the meal, and Stonick requested a $300 gift card to be paid for with the man’s credit card without him knowing. Stonick excused herself from the table to use the restroom, and asked the manager to complete the gift card charge, according to police.

Police said Stonick returned to the restaurant the next day and the day after, and used the gift card.

On August 23, police said they met the victim of this incident at Westport Police Headquarters. Police said he was able to provide the license plate of Stonick’s vehicle and they set up a photograph line up for the him to identify Stonick. He positively identified her as the woman he was on the date with and a warrant was completed for her arrest.

Stonick turned herself in on Friday and was released after posting the $10,000 bail. She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and illegal use of a credit card.

She is due in court Wednesday, October 26.
