HARTFORD – With an agreement now signed between the city of Hartford and Arch Insurance, work is expected to begin again on Dunkin’ Donuts Park, according to the Hartford Courant.
Brett Broesder, spokesman for Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, confirmed Tuesday that the takeover agreement had been signed. The signing of the agreement explains the six-week delay since Bronin announced that an agreement had been reached in principle for Arch to take over the project.
The agreement is intended to help the Hartford Yard Goats reach their goal of hosting its first home opener of the next baseball season on April 13, 2017.
Tim Restall, the team’s General Manager, released a statement:
“We are thrilled to hear today’s news that construction at Dunkin’ Donuts Park has resumed. We look forward to Yard Goats’ season ticket holders, corporate partners and fans experiencing the best ballpark in Minor League Baseball this April.”
Mayor Bronin spoke to FOX 61 on Tuesday after the announcement.
“You’ll see contractors beginning to come back to the site this week, things at full capacity at that site as things really start to ramp up as they work to complete the stadium for next spring,” he said. “I take confidence in the fact that we’ve now got a contractor in there, who I think, knows what they’re doing, who has experience building stadiums and they’re working alongside of a national insurance company, that has committed, put its reputation on the line, to make sure this thing gets done for the spring.”
