TORRINGTON–A city employee is facing serious charges after police say he sold drugs while working.

According to police, David Sarasin, 49, is the parks and recreation maintainer in the Torrington Department of Public Works.

Police say that during the summer Sarasin was selling narcotics while on the clock for the city. The narcotics were allegedly being sold at the Besse Pool while the pool was open for swimming, and from the town’s Parks and Recreation garage.

The pool is near Torrington High School, and therefore within a school zone.

Sarasin is charged with sale of narcotics (prescription medication) and sale of narcotics in a school zone. He was released on $25,000 bond and will be in court October 31.

The investigation into Sarasin began after the DPW reported to police that city employees were stealing city-owned property. That investigation is ongoing, but last week police did arrest Robert Lizotte, 60, who is the superintendent of streets within the DPW.

More arrests in the investigation are possible.
