According to West Rock Authors Academy Principal Rosalyn Bannon, "We are doing everything that we can with the budget that we have."
West Rock Authors Academy is about to go through some changes though after it was announced on Thursday that four magnet schools with 1,800 kindergarten through eighth graders had received a federal grant of $11.7 million over three years.
"We hope to add smart boards to every class, and also interactive tables are part of the grant."
The teachers didn’t know until this morning that the grant was coming in, so it was very exciting.
Bannon said, "I told them 10 minutes before school started – and their expressions were elation – it was like Christmas morning."
