Pedestrian seriously injured in crash that closed Berlin Turnpike in Newington for hours

NEWINGTON– A serious crash shut down the Berlin Turnpike in the southbound direction Thursday evening for several hours.

Around 7:15 p.m. a crash on the Berlin Turnpike, also known as Route 15, near East Robbins Avenue led police to shut down the road. Police asked drivers to seek alternate routes, and didn’t reopen the road until 11 p.m.

Police called the crash serious, and said a male pedestrian has critical injuries. The driver of the car is cooperating with police.

The road was closed for several hours as the Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the crash. If you witnessed the crash, please call police at 860-594-6208.
