EAST HARTFORD – The East Hartford Police Department are warning residents of the risk of phone scams and car burglaries.

They said another phone scam has been reported. The “Apple Tech Support” callers leave a message from 916-233-0160 claiming that there is a problem and asking unsuspecting victims to call a different 1-800 number. East Hartford Police Detectives warn that this is a scam, and advise people to just hang up, not give them access to their computer, not give out passwords or financial information, and not to call them back.

Police said they are also investigating a series of car burglaries that have occurred overnight on Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18. They remind residents to lock their vehicles, especially at night, to prevent becoming a victim. Residents are also encouraged to call the police department to report any and all suspicious activity in their neighborhood, especially at night.
