NIANTIC — Emergency crews responded to boaters in distress Saturday afternoon.
Officials said four people were rescued from a disabled boat stranded on the rocks in Niantic bay, located near the power plant on Millstone Point .
The Waterford fire department, including Jordan, Goshen, and Oswegatchie district fire departments responded with boats and rescued four people. One was hospitalized because the rescue aggravated a prior back injury.
The other three were not injured. It’s unclear why the boat went on the rocks.
