HARTFORD — Police in Hartford are investigating after an elderly man was killed by his own car, according to Deputy Chief Brian Foley.
“Investigating tragic accident,” Foley tweeted Monday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Eusebio Coutinho, 88. The car was a blue 1978 Ford Fairmont.
According to police, Coutinho was found under the rear passenger side tire, and no one was in the car. Police believe Coutinho was unloading groceries from his running car when it rolled back on him and pinned him under the tire.
The accident happened on Merrill Street, in front of the man’s home.
