WEST HAVEN — Police in West Haven are investigating after five people lost consciousness in a matter of hours early Monday morning.

Just after midnight, emergency responders were called to a Dunkin Donuts on Elm Street. Two people were found unconscious in a car and one inside the Dunkin Donuts. Paramedics administered Narcan, saving all three people. The victims told police they took what they thought was Xanax at a house party. They were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Then, around 2:30 a.m., police were called to Brown Street for two more people unconscious in a car. Again, paramedics administered Narcan and took the people to the hospital. The victims told police they thought they had bought heroin in New Haven.

“Police again warn you about this epidemic,” West Haven Police wrote on their Facebook page.

Detectives are continuing investigations in both cases.
