HARTFORD  — A Hartford man whose 100-year sentence in a fatal drive-by shooting was set aside by the state’s highest court has been resentenced to 70 years behind bars.

The Hartford Courant reports a judge handed down the new sentence to 27-year-old Ackeem Riley on Wednesday. Riley was convicted of murder and other charges in a 2009 trial in the killing of 16-year-old Tray Davis of Bloomfield.

Riley later pleaded no contest to his role in the death of another teen and a shooting that left a third teen paralyzed.

Authorities said Riley was 17 when he fatally shot Davis in 2006 and injured two others.

The state Supreme Court overturned Riley’s 2009 sentence last February, ruling juveniles cannot be treated the same as adults when being sentenced for violent crimes.
