HARTFORD – An Massachusetts army veteran has started marching to his state’s capital to raise awareness for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.

His name is James Chartier and he is a former Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army.

“As we all know, Veterans suffering from PTSD are at an ultimate high,” Chartier wrote on his Facebook page. “In some cases, left homeless. This is why I am walking 90 Miles to raise awareness. But, more can be done. I will be walking in Full Military Gear, while Bivouacking the entire trip. A three day venture, In the cold, damp, New England type of weather you can find in November.”

Chartier has partnered with the One Call Away Foundation, who he credits with helping him raise awareness and funds. He is expected at Boston’s Statehouse on Friday, rain or shine.
