WALLINGFORD -- It's warm, it's cozy, and it feels like home!

The Eatery in Wallingford, a true hidden gem, serves up fresh soups, salads and sandwiches and paninis pressed to perfection.

"Everyone loves a good sandwich, from the bread to the quality of ingredients," said owner Jon Masella. "I want someone to come in and feel like, 'that sounds interesting, let me try that.'"

Masella and his wife Leah offer a menu filled with distinct local flavor, perfectly pairing ingredients to create unique tastes.

"It's fall, we've got hot mulled apple cider right now that is local and it's just delicious," smiled Leah Masella. "You can just taste the difference when food is really fresh."

One of The Eatery's "new" signature items is a sweet and savory sandwich concoction, served hot. It's called the Bronut.

"So the bronut starts with a fresh New York glazed donut that we get every morning, grilled chicken, applewood smoked bacon and Vermont aged cheddar," said Jon Masella. "Throwing it on a panini press the glaze starts melting off, it fills the kitchen with this burnt sugar smell like you are at a campfire."

The rustic atmosphere has plenty of family appeal that separates The Eatery from typical hot spots.

"We love people," said Leah.  "We love feeding people, so a big part of what we want the Eatery to feel like is walking into friendly faces, good hospitality and good food, hopefully."
