HARTFORD -- An astronaut stopped by Hartford Public High School Thursday.
Leland Melvin spent some time with students at the Academy Of Engineering and Green Technology.
Melvin is the only person drafted by a National Football League team to spend time in space as a NASA astronaut.
"This is one of the most important things that I can do as an astronaut because it helps children see that they can do or be anything especially I'm a minority male and we have all these types of things that are going on with minority males in schools motivation and inspiration and all those things so if I can get a kid to see that guy looks like me. He was... then if he can do it I can do it." said Melvin.
Melvin is the host of the Lifetime series 'Child Genius.'
